    Do you know what the basic conditions of a healthy family are?

    Recently, the National Health Commission issued the “Guidelines for Building Healthy Families (Trial),” which sets forth requirements for the basic conditions of healthy families and the health knowledge and skills that family members should acquire, including detailed guidance on everyday practices such as physical activity, sleep, and tooth brushing.

      The basic requirements for a healthy family include: family members entering into a contracted‑physician agreement with the local village (community) health service institution, receiving medical care and guidance on healthy lifestyles from their contracted family physician, and maintaining good overall health.

      Healthy family members should embrace green and environmentally friendly principles, maintain a clean indoor and outdoor environment, and sort household waste into designated bags before disposing of it.

      Households have three or more health‑supportive tools, such as a weighing scale, a blood pressure monitor, a waist‑measurement tape, and an oil‑control dispenser, and are equipped with a household first‑aid kit that is regularly organized.

      At least one family member will measure body temperature, pulse, and blood pressure, and will learn and master basic first-aid knowledge and skills.

      Can understand food labels.

      Patients can access smart healthcare services such as online appointment booking, ensuring a civilized and orderly medical experience.

      Develop good hygiene habits such as frequent handwashing, regular ventilation, proper mask-wearing, and using serving utensils.

      Family members do not smoke, there are no smoking devices in the home, and they proactively encourage visiting smokers to refrain from smoking; family members neither offer cigarettes nor urge others to smoke, and they observe the customary practice of refraining from giving cigarettes as gifts; they actively participate in tobacco‑control awareness campaigns.

      Family members maintain healthy fitness habits, exercising at least three times per week and proficiently mastering at least one sport or physical activity.

      Family members undergo regular health check-ups, at least once every two years. Obesity is effectively managed, and chronic diseases are included in community-based periodic follow-up care and are kept under effective control.

      Family members’ mental well-being enables them to confide in one another when under stress, thereby effectively resolving family conflicts.

      Maintain a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables, low in fat and salt, and implement measures to reduce salt and oil intake.

      Family members should brush their teeth twice daily, morning and evening, and replace their toothbrushes every three months; do not share towels.

      Adults should get at least 7 hours of sleep per day, while minors should get at least 8 hours.
