BEIJING, May 23 (Xinhua) — The Ministry of Ecology and Environment announced on May 23 that in 2022, ecological and environmental authorities at all levels conducted 538,000 enforcement inspections related to pollutant discharge permits and imposed 17,000 administrative penalties, effectively deterring illegal activities.
According to the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, in recent years, ecological and environmental authorities at all levels have fully implemented the requirements set forth in the “Guiding Opinions on Strengthening Law Enforcement and Supervision of Pollutant Discharge Permits,” further advanced the implementation of the “Regulations on the Administration of Pollutant Discharge Permits,” and consistently intensified efforts to crack down on environmental violations in the field of pollutant discharge permitting.
On the 23rd, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment released four typical cases of environmental law enforcement in the field of pollutant discharge permitting: the case of Ronggui Guyu Metal Accessories Factory in Shunde District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province, which obtained a pollutant discharge permit through fraudulent means; the case of Nantong Yaolong Metal Manufacturing Co., Ltd. in Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, which illegally changed its management category and discharged pollutants without a permit; the case of Jiaojiang Tongda Metal Surface Treatment Co., Ltd. in Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province, which failed to reapply for and obtain a pollutant discharge permit as required by law; and the case of Shanghai Bo’ao Educational Supplies Co., Ltd. in Shanghai, which likewise failed to reapply for and obtain a pollutant discharge permit in accordance with the law.
