　　The 2023 China SME Development Conference is being held in Shenyang as of April 9. Compared with previous editions, this year’s event has, for the first time, added an exhibition area dedicated to “specialized, refined, distinctive, and innovative” enterprises, with 150 such companies from across the country showcasing their flagship products.

　　As visitors enter the exhibition area, a massive apparatus—2 meters long and weighing 300 kilograms—stands prominently at the front of a display platform, drawing the attention of numerous attendees.

　　Hao Yingyu, General Manager of Shenyang Industrial Pump Manufacturing Co., Ltd., pointed to this product and said, “This is an industrial pump rotor component we have developed and manufactured. It is a critical part of core equipment across the entire value chain in the petrochemical and power-generation sectors, offering energy efficiency, high performance, and robust operational stability. We have achieved a domestic breakthrough by localizing the full-capacity boiler feedwater pump used in 600‑MW ultra-supercritical units.”

　　According to reports, this enterprise, with more than 40 years of history, has remained focused on its core business, pursued meticulous craftsmanship, and established itself firmly in the industrial pump segment. It has launched over 230 product variants across 27 series, becoming a leading supplier in the industry. Many of its products have reached the advanced standards of their international counterparts, and it exports to more than 50 countries and regions.

　　At this conference, new products and cutting-edge technologies from industries such as equipment manufacturing, petrochemicals, and new materials were prominently showcased. Among the exhibiting companies, nearly 70% possess core technologies and offer products that rank among the nation’s leaders, with some even breaking through longstanding technological barriers.

　　At the exhibition booth of Shenyang Xingguang Technical Ceramics Co., Ltd., three glass vials containing black, dark green, and brownish-yellow powdered materials drew considerable attention from visitors. These are high-performance silicon carbide products manufactured by the company, renowned for their exceptional heat resistance and corrosion resistance.

　　“Our silicon carbide products were originally primarily used in high‑temperature, corrosion‑resistant applications such as daily‑use ceramics, photovoltaics, lithium batteries, and environmental protection. In recent years, as silicon carbide has found expanding applications in other sectors, our company has stepped up efforts to explore new avenues and develop innovative products for semiconductor‑grade silicon carbide. We have also been engaging in close discussions with leading domestic semiconductor firms about future collaboration,” said Xing Gang, the company’s deputy general manager.

　　Xing Gang stated that this conference adopts a hybrid online–offline format, facilitating matchmaking and business matching among participating companies to help bring projects to fruition. He expressed hope that the event would help promote his company and foster greater collaboration with upstream and downstream enterprises across the industry chain.

　　Without the need for motor-driven propulsion, the robot can assist individuals with mobility challenges in walking. At the booth of Siasun Robot & Automation Co., Ltd., a service robot product has drawn considerable attention.

　　“This product is called the ‘Passive Wearable Exoskeleton.’ It harnesses the human body’s own gravitational force in place of motor-driven propulsion, employing the principle of a mechanical pendulum to provide support to the hip and knee joints, thereby assisting with walking,” said Zhang Duo, Product Manager of the company’s Medical and Service Robotics Division. He added that the device is suitable for elderly individuals with mobility challenges as well as for patients with limb paralysis undergoing rehabilitation training.

　　At this year’s exhibition, the company also showcased cutting-edge technological upgrades, including hospital logistics‑delivery robots. Zhang Duo stated that, going forward, the company will remain committed to independent R&D and a quality‑focused service philosophy, delivering even higher‑quality medical‑assistive products and services to its customers.

　　Data show that China has cultivated more than 70,000 specialized, refined, distinctive, and innovative SMEs, including 8,997 “Little Giant” enterprises. A large number of these SMEs have established stable and efficient collaborative relationships with related firms in areas such as raw materials, components, and technological processes.

　　The reporter learned that most participating companies are accelerating their transformation. This year’s conference has also brought together major financial institutions—such as futures firms and banks—with corporate exhibition booths, thereby facilitating access to financing for businesses.

　　According to officials from the Liaoning Branch of the Bank of China, the bank has so far extended credit totaling RMB 2.6 billion to 113 national- and provincial-level “specialized, refined, distinctive, and innovative” enterprises in Liaoning Province, with its credit coverage for national-level such enterprises exceeding 31%.
