“Determination of Azide in Water—Spectrophotometric Method” (HJ 1191-2021) is being issued for the first time and is applicable to the determination of azide in surface water, groundwater, domestic wastewater, and industrial wastewater. Azide is highly toxic and poses significant hazards. The promulgation and implementation of this standard will facilitate refined management and control of azide as a water pollutant in relevant industrial discharges, playing an important role in protecting the ecological environment and safeguarding human health.
“Determination of Nine Alkylphenol Compounds and Bisphenol A in Water—Solid-Phase Extraction/High-Performance Liquid Chromatography” (HJ 1192‑2021) is being issued for the first time. It is applicable to the determination of nine alkylphenol compounds and bisphenol A in surface water, groundwater, domestic sewage, and industrial wastewater, and can support the implementation of water pollutant discharge standards such as the “Emission Standard for Pollutants from the Petrochemical Industry” (GB 31571‑2015). Alkylphenol compounds and bisphenol A are typical endocrine disruptors, characterized by toxicity, persistence, and bioaccumulation. China has already banned their use in the production of relevant products and has established limit values in industry-specific pollutant discharge standards. The promulgation and implementation of this standard will help strengthen the control of water pollutant discharges and provide a reliable analytical method to support the management and remediation of alkylphenol and bisphenol A contamination.
“Water Quality — Determination of Indium — Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry” (HJ 1193-2021) is being issued for the first time and is applicable to the determination of indium in surface water, groundwater, and industrial wastewater. With the rapid development of high‑tech industries, the use of indium has become increasingly widespread, highlighting the need to monitor the ecological impacts of indium‑containing pollutants. This standard offers excellent selectivity and high sensitivity, while the associated instrumentation and analytical costs are relatively low. Its promulgation and implementation will provide technical support for the determination of indium in water‑environment samples and in related industries.
The promulgation and implementation of the aforementioned five standards are of great significance for further improving the ecological and environmental monitoring standards system, standardizing ecological and environmental monitoring practices, enhancing the quality of environmental monitoring data, supporting ecological and environmental supervision and law enforcement, and promoting ecological and environmental protection while safeguarding human health.
