The “Technical Regulations for Green Control of Diseases and Pests in Cowpea” and two other agricultural industry standards have been approved by expert review.

　　On October 25, entrusted by the Department of Crop Production Management of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the National Agricultural Technology Extension Center convened a review meeting in Beijing to evaluate three draft standards—“Technical Regulations for Green Pest and Disease Control of Cowpea,” “Technical Regulations for Green Pest and Disease Control of Leek,” and “Technical Regulations for Green Pest and Disease Control of Celery”—which were jointly developed by the National Agricultural Technology Extension Center, the Institute of Vegetables and Flowers of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, among other institutions. Following deliberation, the expert panel unanimously approved the adoption of all three standards.
　　Since the beginning of this year, concerns over the safety of fresh agricultural products, including vegetables, have drawn widespread attention. In response, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, together with the Ministry of Public Security, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, and five other departments, has formulated and issued the Three-Year Action Plan on “Curbing Prohibited Substances, Controlling Pesticide Residues, and Promoting Quality Improvement” for Food‑Grade Agricultural Products, designating the management of pesticide residues in three key crops—yardlong beans, Chinese chives, and celery—as a priority task. Furthermore, efforts are underway to develop technical standards and guidelines for green pest and disease control in these three crops, and to strengthen the promotion of such environmentally friendly practices—measures that are crucial for enhancing the safety of these major vegetable varieties.
　　The experts attending this review meeting are from the Beijing Plant Protection Station, China Agricultural University, the Institute of Plant Protection of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and the Ministry… Pesticide Testing institutes, Beijing Agricultural College, and other relevant organizations. The expert panel heard a report on the standard‑development work from the lead institution and conducted inquiries and discussions. The panel concluded that the three standards are both scientifically sound and practically applicable, and that their implementation will play an important role in standardizing and guiding the green management of major pests and diseases affecting the “three vegetable crops.” It recommended that the standards be promptly revised and refined before being submitted for approval in accordance with established procedures.
　　Wei Qiwen, Director of the National Agricultural Technology Center, and Wang Jianqiang, Director of the Plant Protection and Quarantine Division of the Department of Crop Production Management of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, attended the meeting and delivered remarks. The review meeting was chaired by Wang Fuxiang, Deputy Director of the National Agricultural Technology Center.
