A highly effective, broad-spectrum insecticide—imidacloprid

Imidacloprid can be used to control aphids, whiteflies, leafhoppers, striped flea beetles, rice weevils, rice stem borers, rice leaf folder moths, grubs, cutworms, and leaf miners, among other pests.

Imidacloprid is temperature‑sensitive; it is effective only when applied at temperatures above 20°C. After application, imidacloprid is absorbed into the plant’s leaves and remains within the plant for up to 25 days. When pests feed on the toxin‑containing plant sap, they become paralyzed and die. The efficacy of the product is positively correlated with temperature—higher temperatures enhance its insecticidal performance.

At concentrations of 50–100 mg/L, it can effectively control cotton aphids, vegetable aphids, and peach fruit moths, among others. When applied at a concentration of 500 mg/L, it controls leaf miners such as the citrus leafminer and the pear leafminer, as well as the oriental fruit moth, and is also ovicidal.

When sowing crops such as wheat, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and corn, apply 1,000–2,000 grams per mu of 70% imidacloprid water-dispersible granules, mixed with 15–20 kilograms of organic fertilizer, and evenly broadcast over the soil surface before planting. This effectively controls underground and aboveground pests, including aphids, thrips, leafhoppers, and grubs, with a residual efficacy lasting more than 90 days.

When transplanting seedlings of tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, watermelons, melons, and other crops, you can also apply a 1,500‑fold dilution of 70% imidacloprid solution by drenching the roots during watering—200–300 mL per plant. This effectively controls pest damage and helps prevent the occurrence of viral diseases.

Thiamethoxam is a second-generation neonicotinoid insecticide that outperforms the first-generation imidacloprid in efficacy, exhibits lower toxicity, and is more cost‑effective. It also promotes plant growth regulation and strengthens root development and seedling vigor, making it widely used worldwide.
