    The agricultural industry standard “General Analytical Method for Determining the Content of Active Ingredients in Pesticide Products: Liquid Chromatography” has been approved by expert review.

    At the invitation of the Pesticide Management Division and the Agricultural Product Quality and Safety Supervision Division of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Expert Review Meeting for the agricultural industry standard “General Analytical Method for Determining the Content of Active Ingredients in Pesticide Products—Liquid Chromatography” was held in Hangzhou on November 12–13, 2020. The meeting was organized by the Pesticide Testing Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and hosted by China Agricultural University. More than 90 experts from research, education, administration, testing, production, and standard‑setting fields, along with the principal drafters of the standard, attended the event. Ji Ying, Chief Agronomist at the Pesticide Testing Institute, and Feng Yan, First‑Class Researcher in the Industry Development Division of the Department of Crop Production Management of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, were present and delivered remarks.

     

    The expert review panel heard a briefing from the standard‑drafting organization on the preparation process, conducted a thorough and meticulous examination of the draft standard and related materials, and raised pertinent comments and recommendations. Following careful deliberation and rigorous review, the panel unanimously concluded that the format of the agricultural industry standard “General Analytical Method for Determining the Content of Active Ingredients in Pesticide Products—Liquid Chromatography” complies with the requirements of GB/T 1.1‑2020, “Guidelines for Standardization—Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules for Standardization Documents”; that the document’s layout and hierarchical organization are clear; that its technical content is consistent with China’s current laws, regulations, and relevant standards; and that the analytical methods have been adequately validated, yielding satisfactory results. The standard demonstrates high levels of normativity, scientific rigor, advanced methodology, and practical applicability. The panel unanimously agreed to approve the standard and recommended that the drafting organization revise and refine it in accordance with the review comments, then promptly submit it to the competent authority for promulgation and implementation.

     

    The agricultural industry standard “General Analytical Method for Determining the Content of Active Ingredients in Pesticide Products—Liquid Chromatography” was organized by the Pesticide Inspection Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, with participation from 32 institutions, including China Agricultural University. Grounded in the new requirements for high-quality agricultural development and pesticide management in China, this standard was developed through extensive research, drawing on relevant analytical methods from international organizations as well as domestic standards and literature. Based on numerous experimental studies and method validation, it establishes general requirements for liquid chromatography and specifies liquid chromatographic methods for 462 active ingredients in pesticides, thereby filling a critical gap in the domestic landscape of related testing methodologies. The promulgation and implementation of this standard will help further refine China’s pesticide quality‑standard system, enable testing and inspection agencies to expand their scope of analytical capabilities, and enhance the level of quality supervision over pesticide products. It also plays a vital role in advancing green development in China’s pesticide sector and in ensuring the safety of agricultural production and the quality of agricultural products.
