| On September 25, the demonstration and observation meeting for the peanut project under the National Key R&D Program on “Synergistic Enhancement of Chemical Pesticides,” hosted by Beijing Mingde Lida Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd., was grandly held in Zhengyang County, Henan Province—the leading peanut-producing county in China. During the event, Mingde Lida’s patented seed treatment agent, Miao Jianqiang® (a microcapsule‑suspension formulation containing 15% thiamethoxam, chlorpyrifos, and fludioxonil), officially launched following three years of field trials. As one of the outcomes of the National Key R&D Program, Miao Jianqiang® leverages Mingde Lida’s domestically advanced microencapsulation technology to deliver long‑lasting, highly effective control of root rot, grubs, and other soilborne pests and diseases, while also significantly enhancing the stress resistance and yield‑boosting potential of peanut plants—earning unanimous recognition from all attendees.

According to available data, Miao Jianqiang® boasts three key product advantages: First, it provides integrated protection against both diseases and pests—combining systemic, contact, and repellent actions. The combination of thiamethoxam and lambda‑cyhalothrin enables Miao Jianqiang® to effectively control or repel underground pests, delivering long-lasting efficacy, broad-spectrum performance, and reduced damage from aphids, thrips, leafhoppers, and other early‑stage pests. Its high concentration of fludioxonil is effective against root rot, damping-off, and wilt caused by Rhizoctonia solani; stem base rot due to Sclerotinia sclerotiorum; smut and take‑all in wheat; bakanae disease in rice; as well as root rot and stem base rot in peanuts, among other diseases. Second, it is a patented, innovative microcapsule formulation: Miao Jianqiang® leverages Mingde Lida’s cutting‑edge domestic microencapsulation technology and imported adjuvants, resulting in excellent film‑forming properties, superior air permeability, enhanced safety, and extended residual activity. Third, it gives crops a head start: Miao Jianqiang® stimulates robust root development, producing strong, uniform seedlings and enhancing stress tolerance during the seedling stage, thereby boosting yield and quality. Ma Guangkai, Technical Manager of Mingde Lida’s Henan branch, explained the yield‑enhancing mechanism of Miao Jianqiang®. He stated that Miao Jianqiang® combines both contact‑kill and repellent effects, helping to mitigate pest resistance that develops from prolonged exposure to conventional pesticides, while also delivering highly effective control of peanut stem base rot and root rot. When used for seed treatment, peanuts exhibit robust root systems with abundant rhizobia, significantly bolstering their stress tolerance under adverse conditions. This results in concentrated pod set and higher yields. Moreover, through a synergistic blend of superior active ingredients, Miao Jianqiang® not only safeguards against diseases and pests but also achieves the dual goals of increased production and income.
Driven by innovation, we continuously expand and enrich our seed treatment product portfolio. Over the past decade, China’s pesticide market has posted a compound annual growth rate of approximately 4%, while seed‑treatment products have grown at a CAGR exceeding 10%. As a result, the seed‑treatment segment—led by seed coatings—has emerged as a largely untapped blue ocean that pesticide companies are racing to capture. In China’s seed‑coating market, with peanut acreage surpassing 70 million mu, the share of seed‑coating products remains just 6%, leaving substantial room for expansion. Against a backdrop of severe product homogenization, uneven quality, mounting resistance issues, and frequent phytotoxicity incidents, robust R&D capabilities and advanced formulation‑processing technologies stand as the twin pillars underpinning Mingde Lida’s competitive edge in this burgeoning market. Gao Wei, Product Director of the Technical Marketing Department at Mingde Lida, stated: “Taking Miao Jianqiang® as an example, microencapsulation of lambda‑cyhalothrin effectively addresses several limitations inherent in conventional formulations, slows its degradation in soil, and—while extending its residual efficacy—enables a reduction of more than 25% in the amount of active ingredient applied.” Gao Wei further noted that Mingde Lida’s product portfolio is centered on environmentally friendly formulation types such as suspension concentrates and microcapsules, with the company holding the largest number of registrations for microcapsule products in China and maintaining a nationally leading position in this technology. The underlying reason is that microcapsule‑based suspension concentrates release active ingredients gradually without compromising the rapid onset of action, making them a key strategy for reducing pesticide use while enhancing effectiveness. Miao Jianqiang® has successfully built a strong customer base in the seed‑treatment segment. Mingde Lida’s product portfolio is shaped by four key considerations: First, crop‑specific solutions—Mingde Lida has developed dedicated products for major field crops, including peanuts, wheat, corn, rice, potatoes, and cotton, all of which have been registered accordingly. Second, safety is paramount; whether in terms of active ingredients, film‑forming agents, or warning colors, Mingde Lida places safety at the forefront, employing microcapsule technology to minimize risks during application. Third, functional enhancement—every one of Mingde Lida’s seed treatments is a ternary formulation, offering additional benefits that stimulate crop growth, ensure uniform and robust seedling emergence, and bolster stress tolerance. Fourth, the establishment of a specialized seed‑treatment service team, fully implementing the 158 marketing‑service strategy. According to Jin Qiang, Product Manager of the Technical Marketing Department at Mingde Lida, since 2018, Miao Jianqiang® has undergone extensive field trials each year in major peanut‑producing regions such as Henan, Shandong, and Northeast China. The product has consistently demonstrated outstanding performance in both disease and pest control efficacy and safety. In areas where underground peanut pests are severe, it is recommended to mix 100–120 g of Miao Jianqiang® with 200–300 g of water per 30–35 jin of seeds; in regions with less serious underground pest pressure, the dosage can be reduced to 70–80 g of Miao Jianqiang® mixed with 200–300 g of water for the same seed quantity. According to reports, in addition to Miao Deyi®—already on the market and being promoted—and Miao Jianqiang®, which is soon to be registered, Mingdelida plans to launch three more seed‑treatment products in 2021, covering key crops such as peanuts, wheat, and rice, thereby providing a more comprehensive crop protection solution for managing pests and diseases in field crops.
