According to The Paper, at around 5:30 p.m. on August 3, 2020, a flash explosion occurred at the butanone oxime workshop of Lanhua Organic Silicon Co., Ltd. in Xiliuhe Town, Xiantao City, Hubei Province, injuring five people and leaving four others missing. As of 7:00 p.m., the fire had been extinguished, all injured individuals had been transported to hospitals for treatment, and search-and-rescue efforts are ongoing to locate the missing.

Following the incident, leaders from the Hubei Provincial Emergency Management Department, along with the principal officials and relevant supervisors of the Xiantao Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, promptly arrived at the scene to coordinate response efforts involving public security, fire services, emergency management, environmental protection, and health authorities. No secondary disasters have occurred, and the cause of the accident is under investigation.

According to business registration records, Xiantao LanHua Organic Silicon Co., Ltd., where the flash explosion occurred, primarily engages in the production and sale of organic silicon chemical products and chemical raw materials, as well as the manufacture and sale of butanone oxime; it also conducts import and export of goods and technologies.
