Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development recently issued a resolution banning the use of products containing ethyl chlorpyrifos and fipronil. Plant protection products containing these two active ingredients may be manufactured and imported only during a one-year grace period, after which their sale and use will be prohibited two years from February 19, 2019. The registration process for all products containing these substances will be terminated as of the date the resolution is published. Chlorpyrifos and fipronil are active ingredients found in many commonly used pesticides; however, due to their toxicological risks, they have been banned in numerous countries and on a variety of crops.
