The inaugural meeting of the 7th National Technical Committee on Pesticide Standardization was held in Beijing.

On November 11, the inaugural meeting of the 7th National Pesticide Standardization Technical Committee (hereinafter referred to as the “Standardization Committee”) was held in Beijing. Officials from the Standards and Technology Department of the State Administration for Market Regulation, as well as from the Crop Production Management Department and the Agricultural Product Quality and Safety Supervision Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, attended the meeting, which was also attended by all members of the Standardization Committee.

The meeting reviewed and approved the Articles of Association of the Pesticide Standards Committee, the Rules of Procedure for the Secretariat, and the framework of the pesticide standards system, among other documents. It also deliberated on key documents, including the “Procedures for Naming Generic Chinese Names of Pesticides,” the “Requirements for Application Materials,” and the “Guiding Principles.”

The meeting called for the Standards Committee to focus closely on the needs of high-quality and green agricultural development, continuously refine the pesticide standards system, and enhance the quality of these standards, thereby providing robust technical support to safeguard national food security, the safety of agricultural products, and ecological environmental protection.

It is reported that the day-to-day administration and technical guidance of the Standards Committee have been centralized under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, with the Secretariat of the Committee now located at the Pesticide Inspection Institute of the Ministry. The Committee’s scope of work covers standardization in areas such as pesticide product quality, registration, production, marketing, use, and management. The establishment of the new term of the Standards Committee has further refined its governance structure, providing robust support for pesticide standardization efforts.
