Seven enterprises have jointly invested 50 million yuan to establish a pesticide science and technology innovation fund, ushering in a new model of deep integration among industry, academia, and research.

On October 9, the signing ceremony for the donation agreement establishing the Pesticide Science and Technology Innovation and Development Fund of China Agricultural University was held at the East Campus Library of the university. Seven companies—Huizhou Yinong Technology Co., Ltd., Guangzhou Ruifeng Biotechnology Co., Ltd., Chengdu XinchaoYang Crop Science Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Zhenglin Ecological Technology Co., Ltd., Hubei Qinghe Biotechnology Co., Ltd., Qingdao Qingyuan Crop Science Group Co., Ltd., and Beijing Yuyue Biotechnology Co., Ltd.—jointly established the fund at China Agricultural University, donating RMB 50 million to provide priority support for the university’s innovative development in pesticide science and for talent cultivation, with the aim of fostering a new model of deep integration among industry, academia, and research.

Sun Qixin, President of China Agricultural University, extended the university’s heartfelt gratitude to the donating enterprises. He noted that, against the backdrop of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s call for an innovation-driven development strategy, collaboration between enterprises and universities represents a global trend in future innovation and serves as an effective means of breaking down barriers between science and industry, making it of great significance. The joint establishment of a Pesticide Science and Technology Innovation and Development Fund by seven leading companies not only demonstrates strong support for the university’s efforts in cultivating talent and advancing research in pesticide science but also constitutes a concerted initiative by these enterprises to drive national innovation in pesticide technologies and products. It is hoped that through deepened cooperation between the university and industry, new breakthroughs, fresh developments, and groundbreaking discoveries will be ushered in, injecting renewed vitality and opening up promising prospects for China’s pesticide science and technology sector. Professor Wu Xuemin of China Agricultural University stated that, as the nation’s first university to establish a major in agrochemical science, the development of this discipline has been inseparable from the support of the university and all sectors of society. As a critical agricultural input, agrochemicals serve as an essential tool for controlling pests and diseases. Today, China has become the world’s largest exporter of agrochemicals and continues to maintain strong growth momentum, with particularly outstanding performance in the fine chemicals sector. In response to major national needs, the Agrochemical Science program at China Agricultural University has achieved a series of breakthroughs in areas such as the prevention and control of pine wood nematode disease, the management of flying cotton fluff, and the mitigation of pollen pollution. Leveraging cutting-edge approaches like nanotechnology and precision application, the program is ushering in new prospects for technological upgrading across the industry.
