    2025-09-26

On September 25, Longping High-Tech convened a major corn project成果 showcase in Zhengzhou, Henan, comprehensively summarizing and presenting the company’s achievements in enhancing its corn breeding capabilities since the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan. During the event, Longping High-Tech officially launched its genome-wide selection model and made it available for use across the entire industry.

As one of Longping High-Tech’s key core breeding technologies for maize, the whole-genome selection model—built on years of multi‑site accumulation of high‑quality reference population data—provides the seed industry with specialized services such as F1 hybrid phenotype prediction, inbred line combining ability assessment, and pedigree analysis. Its core competitive advantage stems from over 70,000 reference lines spanning multiple heterotic groups across major maize‑growing regions (Northeast China, North China, and the Huang–Huai–Hai Plain), laying a solid foundation for model accuracy. Users need only upload genotypic data for their inbred lines and test hybrids to obtain rapid analysis results, significantly lowering the barrier to adopting genomic selection technology.

The platform comprises four independent functional modules, forming an end-to-end service system: a genotype data upload and quality‑control module that provides a standardized data foundation; a pedigree analysis module that helps clarify the genetic relationships among materials; a genomic selection prediction module that enables core predictions of phenotypes and combining ability; and a genomic selection results analysis module that offers data‑driven insights to support breeding decisions. At the event, researchers from Longping High-Tech conducted an on-site demonstration of the model: after uploading genotypic data and naming the project, they clicked the analysis button, and the computation was completed in approximately 30 seconds, with results available for direct download. The analysis revealed that eliminating 30% of the materials retained 100% of the advanced inbred lines, while even discarding 50% still preserved 87% of these lines. Moreover, when 30% of the materials were eliminated, all tested parental lines of commercial hybrids remained intact, thereby fully validating the platform’s predictive accuracy and practical value.

As a leading enterprise in China’s corn seed industry tasked with addressing critical technological gaps, Longping High-Tech is fostering open and shared access to its technology platforms, breaking down barriers to cutting-edge innovation, lowering the threshold for industry-wide adoption, and driving collaborative R&D. This approach is expected to help seed companies and research institutions shorten breeding cycles, reduce breeding costs, and accelerate efforts to close the technological shortcomings of China’s corn seed sector, thereby speeding up the development and dissemination of superior corn varieties and injecting new momentum into the high-quality growth of China’s corn seed industry.
