    BEIJING, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) — A national video conference on workplace safety and forest‑grassland fire prevention and control for the autumn‑winter season was held in Beijing on the 24th. Zhang Guoqing, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Wang Xiaohong, Secretary of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and State Councilor, presided over the session. The meeting emphasized the need to thoroughly implement the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping and the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, as well as the requirements of Premier Li Qiang, adopting a strong problem‑oriented approach and robust measures to ensure effective workplace safety and forest‑grassland fire prevention and control, and resolutely prevent and curb the occurrence of serious and extremely serious accidents and fires.

      The meeting emphasized the need to rigorously and decisively advance the three-year campaign to address the root causes of workplace safety risks, continuously deepen comprehensive, end-to-end safety rectification efforts for areas such as gas and electric bicycles, and ensure the stringent implementation of the eight robust measures for mine safety. It also called for further strengthening regulatory oversight of hazardous chemicals, construction operations, and thermal insulation materials, striving to keep emergency evacuation “lifelines” unobstructed, enhancing grassroots fire safety supervision capabilities, and thoroughly investigating and rectifying major safety hazards. Furthermore, it stressed the importance of conducting rigorous safety‑production assessments and inspections, prioritizing standard upgrades to improve product and engineering quality and intrinsic safety levels, thereby firmly consolidating the grassroots foundation of workplace safety.

      The meeting emphasized the need to prioritize prevention, maintain strict control over ignition sources and strengthen public‑level fire‑prevention efforts, ensuring that forest and grassland fire‑prevention responsibilities and measures are implemented at the grassroots level to minimize fire risks. It also called for early detection, rapid response, and effective measures to prevent reignition, while reinforcing comprehensive fire‑response management and on‑site safety controls to safeguard the lives of both the public and firefighting personnel. Furthermore, it stressed the importance of strengthening the organizational command system, expediting the addressing of existing shortcomings, and continuously enhancing overall capabilities for the prevention and control of forest and grassland fires.
