According to the China Pesticide Information Network, 59 new active ingredients were approved for registration for use on potatoes in 2024, with insecticides accounting for the largest share, followed by fungicides, while herbicides and plant growth regulators were relatively few.

The 59 newly approved pesticide products comprise 42 formulated products and 17 single‑ingredient formulations. They cover eight formulation types, with suspension concentrates accounting for the largest share at 30 registrations, followed by granules with 15; the remaining formulation types each have fewer than five registrations.

In terms of active ingredients, flonicamid tops the list with 14 registrations, followed by thiamethoxam with 13; the remaining ingredients each have fewer than 10 registrations, while 17 other ingredients have only a single registration.

A total of seven target pests and diseases are covered, with grubs, late blight, and aphids being the most frequently registered.
