Adama has launched an imidacloprid–bifenthrin insecticide for sugarcane in Brazil.

Recently, Adama announced the launch of an innovative insecticide—Gales—targeting the Brazilian sugarcane market. This new product combines two active ingredients, imidacloprid and bifenthrin, and is specifically designed to control the sugarcane snout beetle ( Sphenophorus levis ) and is designed to address the severe threat this pest poses to sugarcane crops.
The sugarcane weevil, by damaging ratoon crops, impairs their normal growth and has become a major challenge for Brazil’s sugarcane industry. It is concentrated primarily in the central-southern region, particularly in São Paulo State and the neighboring states of Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, and Paraná.
By launching Gales, Adama has not only provided Brazilian sugarcane growers with an effective control solution but, thanks to its unique active‑ingredient formulation, has also enhanced efficacy against the sugarcane weevil while simplifying application—eliminating the need for tank mixing. Adama stated that the introduction of Gales is part of the company’s strategic roadmap, aimed at entering Brazil’s sugarcane insecticide market through innovative products. The company further pledged to roll out a series of new insecticidal solutions for sugarcane over the next three years, bolstering its innovation capabilities and market competitiveness in this segment.
