Moreover, due to its multiple generations per year, rapid reproduction, and propensity to develop resistance to acaricides, some formulations that were once highly effective have seen their efficacy decline markedly after prolonged use.

      Mite‑Worry is a new acaricide with a long residual efficacy, developed by Bayer CropScience, and its active ingredient is spirotetramat. Mite‑Worry kills mites by inhibiting lipid synthesis within their bodies, disrupting their energy metabolism, and ultimately leading to their death. Its mode of action is entirely distinct from that of existing acaricides; therefore, it does not exhibit cross‑resistance with other conventional products and can be used to control a wide range of mite species that have developed resistance.

      Mianwei exhibits a broad acaricidal spectrum, effectively controls both eggs and nymphs, offers long-lasting efficacy, has low toxicity, is resistant to rain wash‑off, and shows no cross‑resistance.
    The application of this product requires strict adherence to technical guidelines, with uniform spraying to ensure thorough coverage of both the upper and lower leaf surfaces as well as the fruit surface, thereby maximizing its efficacy. Dilute the product at a ratio of 5,000–6,000 times the recommended rate. For optimal results, apply it during the early stages of red spider mite infestation—typically from early March to early May—or just before the second peak of damage, which occurs in early September to early October. Within the citrus growing season, it is best to apply this product only once; at most, twice. If a second application is necessary, alternate it with acaricides that have different modes of action to effectively control resistant mite populations while minimizing the risk of resistance development.

      As China’s citrus production continues to improve and importing countries impose increasingly stringent technical barriers on fruit exports, citrus growers are compelled to adopt more scientific and rational pesticide‑use practices to mitigate the risk of pesticide residues in their products. With its advantages of high efficacy, low toxicity and safety, and minimal residue, Mianwei has the potential to emerge as a key acaricide in the ongoing renewal and upgrading of citrus‑specific miticides.
