Beware of scams! The Ministry of Ecology and Environment issues a solemn statement.

On October 23, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment’s official WeChat account issued a statement regarding instances in which certain organizations and individuals, posing as “Ecological and Environmental Inspectors” under the Ecological and Environmental Inspection Network, conducted so‑called inspection activities at enterprises. The statement read as follows:

Solemn Statement

　　Recently, some local authorities have reported that certain organizations and individuals, under the guise of “Ecological and Environmental Inspectors” from the Ecological and Environmental Inspection Network, have been conducting so‑called inspection activities at enterprises. Hereby, we solemnly declare:

　　The Ministry of Ecology and Environment has never established any form of affiliation with the Ecological and Environmental Supervision Network, nor has it authorized or entrusted “ecological and environmental supervisors” to conduct inspection activities. The Ministry has issued a dedicated enforcement identification mark for ecological and environmental law enforcement; when comprehensive administrative law enforcement officers for ecological and environmental protection carry out on-site inspections, they must present the People’s Republic of China Administrative Law Enforcement Certificate. Examples of the identification mark and certificate are shown in the figure below. All local authorities and relevant units are urged to remain vigilant and guard against fraud. If losses have already occurred, please promptly report any leads to the public security authorities. Our Ministry reserves the right to take appropriate legal measures.
