　　BEIJING, May 31 (Xinhua) — Zhang Guoqing, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, attended and addressed the launch ceremony of the 2023 National “Work Safety Month” in Beijing on the 31st. He emphasized the need to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on work safety, to carry out the arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, to put the people first and prioritize life above all else, to uphold the principle of safety first and prevention as the priority, and to rigorously, pragmatically, and meticulously enforce accountability measures, thereby resolutely preventing and curbing the occurrence of serious and extremely serious accidents.

He stressed that promoting and implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on work safety must be the top priority of this initiative, with all parties organized to study them thoroughly and apply them effectively throughout every stage and aspect of economic and social development. In conjunction with the special campaign to identify and rectify major accident hazards, we must focus on critical risks such as illegal subcontracting and re‑subcontracting, unauthorized electric welding and cutting, hazardous construction practices, and chaotic on‑site management.
