    Throughout the year, the total area planted with grain crops reached 118.33 million hectares, an increase of 700,000 hectares over the previous year. Specifically, rice acreage stood at 29.45 million hectares, down 470,000 hectares; wheat acreage was 23.52 million hectares, a reduction of 50,000 hectares; corn acreage totaled 43.07 million hectares, down 250,000 hectares; and soybean acreage reached 10.24 million hectares, up 1.83 million hectares. Cotton acreage amounted to 3.00 million hectares, a decrease of 30,000 hectares. Oilseed acreage was 13.14 million hectares, an increase of 40,000 hectares. Sugar crop acreage stood at 1.47 million hectares, up 10,000 hectares.

     

    Total grain output for the year reached 686.53 million tonnes, up 3.68 million tonnes, or 0.5%, from the previous year. Specifically, summer grain production stood at 147.40 million tonnes, an increase of 1.0%; early rice production was 28.12 million tonnes, up 0.4%; and autumn grain production totaled 511.00 million tonnes, also up 0.4%. Throughout the year, cereal output amounted to 633.24 million tonnes, a 0.1% rise over the prior year. Among these, paddy rice production fell by 2.0% to 208.49 million tonnes, while wheat production increased by 0.6% to 137.72 million tonnes, and maize production rose by 1.7% to 277.20 million tonnes. Soybean production reached 20.28 million tonnes, a 23.7% increase.

    Throughout the year, cotton production totaled 5.98 million tons, up 4.3% from the previous year. Oilseed production reached 36.53 million tons, an increase of 1.1%. Sugar crop production stood at 114.44 million tons, down 0.1%. Tea production amounted to 3.35 million tons, up 5.7%.

     

    Throughout the year, total meat production of pigs, cattle, sheep, and poultry reached 92.27 million tons, up 3.8% from the previous year. Specifically, pork output stood at 55.41 million tons, an increase of 4.6%; beef output was 7.18 million tons, up 3.0%; mutton output totaled 5.25 million tons, up 2.0%; and poultry meat output amounted to 24.43 million tons, up 2.6%. Poultry egg production reached 34.56 million tons, a rise of 1.4%, while milk production totaled 39.32 million tons, up 6.8%. At year-end, the live pig inventory stood at 452.56 million head, up 0.7% from the end of the previous year; throughout the year, 699.95 million pigs were slaughtered, an increase of 4.3% over the prior year.

     

    Annual aquatic product output totaled 68.69 million tons, up 2.7% from the previous year. Of this, farmed aquatic product output reached 55.68 million tons, an increase of 3.2%, while wild-capture aquatic product output stood at 13.01 million tons, up 0.4%.

     

    Annual timber production totaled 106.93 million cubic meters, down 7.7% from the previous year.

     

    Throughout the year, 780,000 hectares of newly cultivated land were brought under irrigation, and an additional 1.61 million hectares were equipped with efficient water-saving irrigation systems.

     

    Throughout the year, 12.07 million hectares of crops were affected by disasters, including 1.35 million hectares that suffered total crop failure. Direct economic losses totaled RMB 130.3 billion due to floods and geological hazards, RMB 51.3 billion from droughts, RMB 12.5 billion from low-temperature freezing and snowstorms, and RMB 2.4 billion from marine disasters. On the mainland, a total of 27 earthquakes of magnitude 5.0 or higher occurred, resulting in direct economic losses of RMB 22.4 billion. Additionally, 709 forest fires broke out during the year, damaging approximately 5,000 hectares of forestland.
