    Xi Jinping has issued important instructions regarding the fire accident at Kaixinda Trading Co., Ltd. in Anyang City, Henan Province.

    Always put the people and their lives first, and resolutely prevent and curb the occurrence of serious and extremely serious accidents.

    BEIJING, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) — At around 4 p.m. on Nov. 21, a fire broke out at the factory of Kaixinda Trading Co., Ltd. in Anyang City, Henan Province. As of now, the accident has resulted in 38 deaths and 2 injuries.

      Following the accident, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the People’s Republic of China, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, immediately issued important instructions. In Henan and other regions, a series of fires and other workplace safety incidents have occurred, resulting in significant casualties and delivering a profoundly sobering lesson. All efforts must be mobilized to provide emergency medical care to the injured, offer appropriate support to the families of the victims, and handle post‑incident matters with due diligence. The causes of the accidents must be thoroughly investigated, and those responsible must be held strictly accountable in accordance with the law. As the year draws to a close, with heavy responsibilities for coordinating development and ensuring safety, all localities and relevant departments must remain committed to putting the people and their lives first, firmly enforce workplace safety obligations, conduct comprehensive inspections and address all kinds of risks and hidden dangers, and resolutely prevent and curb the occurrence of serious and extremely serious accidents.

      In accordance with Xi Jinping’s instructions, the Ministry of Emergency Management and other relevant departments have dispatched working groups to Henan to provide guidance on rescue operations, while responsible officials from Henan Province are on-site directing response efforts. At present, on‑site rescue, medical treatment of the injured, and investigation into the cause of the accident are all underway in an orderly and intensive manner.
