To enhance the technical level of integrated management for rice stem borers and to accelerate the promotion and application of key green control technologies for rice pests and diseases, the National Agricultural Technology Extension Center hosted a national training workshop on integrated control of rice stem borers in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, from September 28 to 30. More than 60 participants, including plant protection technicians from 16 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions nationwide, as well as representatives from demonstration counties implementing green rice pest management, attended the training.
This event has invited experts and professors from institutions including the Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Zhejiang University, Chongqing University, and the Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences. Discussions will focus on the occurrence patterns of rice stem borers, the conservation of natural enemies in rice fields and their ecological control of these pests, the application of insect pheromones, and microbial approaches. Pesticide Training sessions were conducted and delivered. Representatives from Jiangxi, Jilin, Hunan, Anhui, and other provinces shared and discussed the progress of rice stem borer management in their respective regions.
The training session emphasized that plant protection agencies at all levels and the broader plant protection workforce must further strengthen their sense of responsibility and commitment to ensuring robust production of grain and other key agricultural products. They are urged to vigorously advance the “Double Hundred” initiative for green pest management, enhance control capabilities against major rice pests such as stem borers, and elevate the overall level of green pest‑management practices for major crop diseases and pests. Efforts should be made to fully leverage the role of plant protection in disaster prevention and mitigation, thereby providing strong technical support for securing a bumper grain harvest for the year.
