Recently, the National Agricultural Technology Extension Center convened experts from research, educational, and extension institutions to conduct a joint analysis of the 2021 national trends in the occurrence of major crop pests and diseases. Based on a comprehensive assessment of factors such as pest and disease inoculum levels, cropping systems, crop distribution, and climatic conditions, it is projected that major crop pests and diseases will experience a resurgence in 2021, with an estimated total affected area of 1.445 billion mu‑times, up 19.2% year on year. Among these, the fall armyworm, grass cutworm, oriental armyworm, rice planthoppers, and rice leafroller, Wheat Migratory pests such as aphids, as well as the rice stem borer, Wheat Stripe rust, Fusarium head blight, rice blast, potato late blight, and other epidemic diseases will affect rice, Wheat 、 Corn 、 Soybean More than 70% of the production areas for major crops such as potatoes are at risk of severe damage; without timely and effective control measures, yield losses could exceed 30%.
