On December 1, 2020, entrusted by the Department of Crop Production Management of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Pesticide Testing Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs convened in Beijing an expert review meeting for four agricultural industry standards, including the “Specification for Drafting Standards of Slow-Release Granular Pesticide Products,” the “Operational Procedure for Fourier Transform Attenuated Total Reflection Infrared Spectroscopy of Liquid Pesticide Formulations,” the “Technical Specification for Validamycin Technical Grade,” and the “Technical Specification for Validamycin Wettable Powder” (draft versions). More than 30 experts from research, administration, standard‑setting, testing, and production sectors, along with the principal drafters of these standards, attended the meeting. Ji Ying, Chief Agronomist of the Pesticide Testing Institute, Feng Yan, First‑Level Researcher of the Industry Development Division of the Department of Crop Production Management, and Xu Xuewan, Deputy Director of the Standards Division of the Department of Agricultural Product Quality and Safety Supervision, all attended the meeting and delivered remarks.
The expert review panel carefully listened to the standard‑drafting organization’s report on the development of the standards, raised pertinent questions, engaged in thorough discussions, and put forward revision suggestions for both the main text of the standards and their explanatory notes. Following careful deliberation, the panel unanimously concluded that the four standards, including the “Specification for the Preparation of Slow‑Release Granular Pesticide Products,” comply with the requirements of the Guidelines for Standardization Work (GB/T 1.1‑2020), are aligned with current national laws, regulations, and relevant standards, employ scientifically sound test methods, and set reasonable quality‑control criteria, thereby demonstrating a high degree of normativity, scientific rigor, advancedness, and practical applicability. The panel unanimously agreed to approve these four standards and recommended that the drafting organization revise and refine them in accordance with the review comments, and promptly submit them to the competent authorities for promulgation and implementation.
The “Specifications for Drafting Product Standards for Pesticide Slow-Release Granules” and three other standards were drafted under the auspices of the Pesticide Inspection Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. Upon their promulgation and implementation, they will further enhance China’s system of quality standards for pesticide products, providing robust technical support for the preparation of standard texts, the management of registration‑test samples, and the oversight of pesticide product quality. These standards are of great significance in advancing green development within China’s pesticide industry and in ensuring the safety of agricultural production and the quality of agricultural products.
