The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has dispatched eight additional working groups to the areas hardest hit by flooding, to ensure the implementation of relief measures and facilitate the recovery of agricultural production in the aftermath of the disaster.

Since June, the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River have experienced sustained heavy rainfall, with some areas suffering from flooding that has severely impacted agricultural production. Following the disaster, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has prioritized safeguarding yields amid adverse conditions, strengthening guidance for agricultural production in affected regions to minimize losses. Building on earlier deployments of flood‑response and relief teams, on July 23 the ministry dispatched an additional eight working groups to Anhui, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Chongqing, and other provinces and municipalities to provide on‑the‑ground assistance and guidance. It has also formulated and issued technical guidelines for post‑disaster recovery of crop production in the middle and lower Yangtze region, offering direction to local authorities as they resume farming activities.

　　The working group will go directly to the front lines of flood‑control and disaster relief efforts, conduct on‑site inspections of the damage, and provide guidance to farmers in implementing measures to restore production after the disaster. First, it will promote the resumption of agricultural production by directing local authorities to increase the deployment of machinery and promptly drain standing water from fields. It will also strengthen the allocation of early‑rice harvesters and drying equipment to expedite harvesting and drying, ensuring that all grain is safely stored. Farmers will be encouraged to expand planting of late‑season double‑cropping rice, adopting “early tillage, late sowing” practices tailored to local conditions to accelerate planting and transplanting. At the same time, the group will guide localities in carrying out… Animal husbandry First, resume post-disaster agricultural production. Second, strengthen the prevention and control of animal and plant diseases. Guide disaster-affected areas to continue disinfection and source elimination, intensify patrols of rivers and lakes, promptly identify and dispose of drowned livestock and poultry, and ensure that no outbreaks occur. Also, provide guidance on monitoring and controlling the fall armyworm and rice‑transmitted migratory pests, mitigating pest and disease damage and safeguarding grain yields. Third, assist in addressing practical challenges. In coordination with local agriculture and rural affairs departments, and based on the evolving disaster situation, refine technical plans for post‑disaster agricultural recovery, and help facilitate the real‑world arrangements—such as the allocation and transportation—of necessary supplies to support the resumption of agricultural production.
