Report on the Mandarin Competition Event

2019 November of the year On the afternoon of the 15th, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., a themed event titled “Speak Standard Mandarin and Strive to Be Civilized Citizens” was held in the conference room. The competition consisted of three rounds:

1. Basic Questions (assessing the participating teams’ fundamental proficiency in spoken Mandarin)

Each group draws a set of mandatory questions, which are divided into word groups and short passages, and are read aloud by the group members in turn.

2. I’ll say it—guess what (assesses the contestants’ communication and expression skills in Standard Mandarin)

In each group, one member is responsible for describing the words, while another tries to guess them—this is also the most popular segment of the competition. Teams fully showcase their wit and creativity, and the atmosphere is filled with laughter.

3. Fun Local Dialects (Explaining Shijiazhuang’s “hometown dialect” and highlighting the benefits of employees speaking Mandarin)

The host provides 10. Form groups to present their “hometown dialects” in a simulated scenario, with each team competing to answer questions and explain the original meaning of the dialect terms in standard Mandarin.

After three rounds of competition, the top three teams are:

First Place, Group 5: Ban Mengxin, Rong Yan

Second place, Group 7: Zhang Peng, Geng Ye

Third place, Group 8: Wang Ping, Jia Leilei

Through this Mandarin proficiency competition, we hope to inspire more Derui people to speak standard Mandarin and embrace civility and proper etiquette, thereby raising awareness of the importance of Mandarin, promoting Chinese culture, and bringing honor and distinction to our Derui family!
