The 26th Annual Meeting of the International Center for Fertilizer Science (CIEC) was held in Braunschweig, Germany, from September 4 to 8. The meeting resolved to relocate the center’s headquarters from Germany to China, with the Shenyang Institute of Applied Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, serving as its host institution.

Meanwhile, the conference announced that Ji Lanzhu, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group, Vice President of the Shenyang Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and researcher at the Shenyang Institute of Applied Ecology, will assume the role of Chair of the Center’s sixth term. This marks the first time in the 86-year history of the International Fertilizer Science Center that an Asian has held the position of Chair, and it also signifies that China has emerged as a new global hub for fertilizer science research. The Chinese Academy of Sciences is poised to become a leading institution in the field of international fertilizer research, spearheading the cutting edge of next-generation fertilizer science worldwide.

The International Fertilizer Science Center, established in 1933, is the oldest non-profit international scientific federation in the field of fertilizers.
