　　In order to fully implement the national intellectual property strategy, enhance public awareness of intellectual property concepts and understanding of relevant policies, improve the scientific decision-making in IP-related work, standardize industry activities such as production, operation, and distribution, and reduce instances of IP infringement, on May 14, 2019, China… Pesticide The industrial association, together with 30 leading companies in the sector, established an Intellectual Property Protection Committee in Hefei. Secretary-General Li Zhonghua outlined the committee’s founding rationale: amid the industry’s evolving landscape—characterized by Chinese enterprises’ internationalization and multinational corporations’ localization—safeguarding technological security and protecting independent innovation have become pressing priorities. The establishment of the Intellectual Property Committee will enable companies to more effectively engage in global competition, secure strategic advantages on the international stage, and align with the broader national development agenda.

　　The meeting discussed and finalized the committee’s administrative regulations, and elected the committee’s director from China. Pesticide Li Zhonghua, Secretary-General of the Industrial Association, presided over the meeting, during which six enterprises—each possessing well-established systems and extensive experience in intellectual property management and protection—were discussed and approved as deputy director units of the committee. These entities will play a pivotal role in the committee’s future work.

　　Shandong Province Pesticide Director Li Dejun of the Academy of Sciences stated that the establishment of the Intellectual Property Committee is highly timely. The committee’s creation serves to raise awareness: intangible assets are just as important—and equally inviolable—as tangible assets. He urged everyone to respect intangible assets with the same rigor and reverence accorded to tangible property under property law. At the same time, innovation is exceedingly challenging, yet existing measures to protect it remain weak. Accordingly, the Intellectual Property Committee initiated by the association reflects the industry’s collective voice, embodies the direction of our times, and addresses the deep‑seated needs of researchers.

　　China Pesticide Sun Shubao, President of the Industrial Association, stated that following its establishment, the Intellectual Property Committee will focus on the following areas: 1) Organizing conferences, seminars, and training sessions on intellectual property to raise awareness and enhance expertise in IP protection, thereby equipping stakeholders with more effective strategies and tools for safeguarding this intangible asset; 2) Establishing an IP‑protection and management platform to facilitate the efficient leveraging of IP‑related resources and to provide high‑level professional guidance through expert input; 3) Representing enterprises in lodging complaints with government authorities regarding infringement and spearheading collective efforts to combat infringing activities, with the aim of more effectively deterring and sanctioning unlawful conduct; and 4) Like other specialized committees established by the Association, striving through sustained efforts to make greater contributions to the protection of corporate rights and interests. Meanwhile, the Association’s Secretariat will live up to expectations by actively soliciting feedback from all members and ensuring that its work is both thorough and well executed.
