Recently, the research group led by Researcher Wu Zhengyan at the Institute of Technical Biology and Agricultural Engineering, Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, has developed a photosensitive controlled-release pesticide. This technology provides effective technical support for on-demand delivery of pesticides, reducing application rates while enhancing efficacy, thereby facilitating the transformation and upgrading of the pesticide industry and the development of ecological agriculture. The relevant findings have been accepted for publication in the journal Chemical Engineering Journal. Pesticides have played a crucial role in maintaining stable, high agricultural yields; however, conventional pesticides often fail to deliver active ingredients precisely when and where they are needed, resulting in low utilization efficiency and severe environmental pollution—factors that have become major constraints on the sustainable development of modern agriculture in China.
