    In 2025, 94 new registrations were granted for potato‑related pesticides, covering 40 active ingredients including thiamethoxam and flucythrinate.

    Potato is one of China’s major food crops, and many agrochemical companies are closely monitoring the registration status of crop protection products for potatoes. The following section summarizes newly registered potato‑specific pesticides as of 2025, for industry reference.

     

    According to the China Pesticide Information Network, 94 new potato‑specific pesticides were registered in 2025, covering nine different formulation types. Granules accounted for the largest share, with 36 registrations, followed by suspensions at 35. The remaining formulation types had relatively few registrations, as detailed in the figure below.

    The active ingredient with the highest number of registrations is thiamethoxam, followed by flucythrinate and fluopyram, among others, totaling 40 substances; see the figure below. (Note that 17 ingredients have only a single registration and are not shown in the figure.)

    The pest or disease with the highest number of registered control targets is late blight, which encompasses a total of nine target organisms; details are shown in the figure below.

    In 2025, newly registered potato crop protection products will be dominated by fungicides, followed by insecticides, with only two plant growth regulators.
