China has registered a total of 558 pesticides for use on sugarcane, with 97% being herbicides and insecticides.

Sugarcane is an important energy and sugar crop, and since 2000, China has consistently ranked third worldwide in both planted area and total production. The following section summarizes the registration status of sugarcane‑related products, providing a reference for pesticide registrants and relevant research institutions.

According to data from the China Pesticide Information Network, there are a total of 558 pesticide products registered for use on sugarcane in China, comprising 314 single‑ingredient formulations and 244 formulated mixtures. Among these, 75 are classified as slightly toxic, 456 as low‑toxicity, and 27 as moderately toxic. The earliest registration dates back to 2006, and 78 products have a validity period extending through 2025.

As shown in the figure, herbicides account for the largest share of registered pesticide products, with 286 entries, followed by insecticides; fewer products are registered under other categories.

The formulation analysis results are shown in the figure below: granules account for 221 entries, representing the largest number of registered formulations, followed by wettable powders, suspensions, aqueous solutions, and other dosage forms.

Among all registered products, the active ingredients most frequently involved include diuron, atrazine, thiamethoxam, and simazine. In formulated mixtures, the most common combinations of active ingredients comprise 2,4‑D + atrazine + diuron, chlorantraniliprole + thiamethoxam, and thiamethoxam + lambda‑cyhalothrin, among others.
