According to relevant data, radish is the second most widely cultivated vegetable in China, after cabbage. Its harvested area ranges from 400,000 to 420,000 hectares, accounting for 36.09% of the global radish harvest area. Radish is extensively grown across China, with Hubei, Henan, Sichuan, and Gansu ranking among the top five provinces in terms of planting area.

During radish cultivation, the most common threats are the “four diseases and four pests.” The “four diseases” refer to downy mildew, viral disease, soft rot, and black rot; the “four pests” are whiteflies, aphids, cabbage caterpillars, and cutworms.

According to the China Pesticide Information Network, as of now, there are 75 single‑ingredient formulations and 6 formulated mixtures registered for use on radish. When all registered products are categorized by active ingredient class, insecticides account for the largest share with 52 entries, followed by fungicides (16), acaricides (13), plant growth regulators (1), and herbicides (1).

Among all products, the number of active‑ingredient registrations, ranked from highest to lowest, is as follows: acetamiprid (25), tebuconazole (16), pyridaben (14), and Bacillus thuringiensis (14).
