Recently, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People’s Republic of China issued the “Technical Specification for Pollution Control in the Utilization and Disposal of Waste Salts (Pesticide Industry).” This standard is being released for the first time and will take effect on April 1, 2025.

This standard is formulated to implement the Environmental Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China, the Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution by Solid Waste, and other relevant laws and regulations; to prevent and control environmental pollution; to improve ecological and environmental quality; and to standardize and guide environmental management of the utilization and disposal of waste salt—whose principal component is sodium chloride—generated during pesticide production. This standard specifies pollution‑control requirements for the collection, storage, transportation, treatment, utilization, and disposal of such waste salt, as well as monitoring and environmental‑management requirements. This is the first edition of this standard.
