BEIJING, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) — By reporter Ye Haoming: On the 26th, the Ministry of Emergency Management announced that it will urge local authorities to prioritize “three types of venues” and high-rise residential buildings, conduct comprehensive and thorough inspections to identify and address all fire safety risks and hazards, and focus on tackling pressing issues such as electric bicycles being brought into buildings and homes.
An official from the Ministry of Emergency Management stated that procedures and standards for the resumption of work and production at high-risk enterprises—such as mines and chemical plants—will be strictly enforced; the responsibility system for overseeing major hazard sources will be earnestly implemented; and management of special operations—including hot work, inspections, and maintenance—will be strengthened. Comprehensive safety‑production inspections will continue to be carried out in depth, targeted rectifications in key industries and sectors will be further advanced, regulatory resources will be deployed closer to the front lines, and both open and undercover inspections, along with public warnings and exposure of violations, will be intensified.
Meanwhile, we are rigorously implementing a special campaign to dynamically eliminate major forest and grassland fire hazards and to crack down on illegal open‑fire activities, strengthening control over outdoor ignition sources and conducting fire‑prevention awareness campaigns in villages and households. We are further enhancing fire‑spot monitoring and early warning, advancing the “three front‑line” approach—moving command, resources, and equipment closer to the scene—and ensuring that any fires are promptly extinguished at their earliest stages, while keeping them small and under control.
